The Wiikwemkoong Arts and Music Festival was founded in 2018 by the Debajehmujig Theatre Group. The event was created to build platforms for young artists, of many disciplines, to be inspired and also garner experience. Having world class established artist perform on the same stage as exciting emerging artists affords this to happen. This summer we welcome rising Hip Hop sensation Stella Standing Bear, Oji-Cree multi-instrumentalist Aysanabee, hometown star Crystal Shawanda, and many young emerging artists. Also look for a smoke dance extraordinaire. As well, on site, join our exciting Indigenous Chefs and Youth who will battle for the 3rd Annual Odawa Mnis Masterchef Showdown title. While music is the big ticket event, our festival presents a fine selection various disciplines of displays that connect arts, culture, and promotes unity, allyship and the celebration of life through art!
